Thanks to all the people who replied to this query. To recapitulate, installing StarOffice 5.1 on Windows 98 had made it the default browser instead of my preference, which was Netscape Communicator. Most of you -- except one respondent whose message I have lost (thanks!) -- unfortunately had it wrong by suggesting that changing the file associations for *.htm and *.html extensions would do the trick. This does but for locally stored files only. So I feel obliged to pass on the correct methods. @ `How can I make Navigator 4.0x or Communicator the default browser?', <http://help.netscape.com/kb/consumer/971009-21.html> This will work if Netscape is set to ask you to change the default browser when it detects that it is no longer the default on launching. If this preference has been switched off, try the following procedures which are applicable to any browser: @ `What registry entry controls default browser under Win95?', <http://help.netscape.com/kb/consumer/980502-2.html> @ `Working with the Windows 95 Registry', <http://help.netscape.com/kb/consumer/970102-17.html> -- Regards, Hedley Finger Technical Writer Ericsson Australia Pty Ltd StarHUB NMOSS Project Level 34.66 Melbourne Central Tower 360 Elizabeth Street Melbourne VIC 3000 Australia Tel. +61 3 9301 6214 Cell. +61 412 461 558 Fax. +61 3 9301 6199 Email. hedley.finger@ericsson.com.au Hand Holding Projects Pty Ltd 28 Regent Street Burwood VIC 3125 Australia Tel. +61 3 9809 1229 Cell. +61 412 461 558 Fax. +61 3 9809 1326 Email. hfinger@handholding.com.au ** To unsubscribe, send a message to majordomo@omsys.com ** ** with "unsubscribe framers" (no quotes) in the body. **
