Chris, I am stuck. I have only had problems printing EPS to Lexmark Optra printers if the PC-based printer driver was not set up properly for our unix network, but then the whole job would fail (crash and burn). I thus come back to the image files themselves. One thing that sounds odd is that you are using both Photoshop and Illustrator. Photoshop is a "bitmap" program and Illustrator a "vector" program. You can create/open/save an image in Photoshop as an EPS file, but it is a "bitmap" format EPS file, not the "usual" Illustrator "vector" format EPS file. You can then open that file in Illustrator, as you do, but that does not convert it into a vector type file. Perhaps something strange happening that workflow. I have a suggestion. Try TWO tests. 1) Make a file in Photoshop, from scratch. It does not matter what it is a picture of, but MAKE it IN Photoshop (not a capture). Save it as .EPS format. Import that into a FM document and try to print it. 2) Do the same thing in Illustrator. Make it from scratch in Illustrator, do not import or place anything from anywhere else. Save it as .EPS format. Import that into a FM document and try to print it. Did that work. If so, then expand the process one step at a time (the capturing, the placing, etc.) until the process breaks. BY THE WAY... When you Save or SaveAs to the EPS format, you get a choice of Binary vs. ASCII format. I don't know what type of network you are on, so do your testing using the ASCII format until you have made something work. Then try the same test but with Binary and see if that breaks it. This can be an important issue. Good luck. Jay -- Jay Smith e-mail: jay@jaysmith.com Jay Smith & Associates P.O.
