Examples:

* Look and Feel.
This is one that is purely subjective, but we've moved on since System 7 and Windows 3.1. However, the general look and feel of FM is still stuck in those eras. Granted I've become very spoiled with Mac OS X and how gorgeous most applications look just by following the Human Interface Guidelines Apple has published for Mac OS X. But even on Windows XP, FrameMaker looks a bit tired. Again this is the most subjective of my objections.

Indeed it is subjective. If you want "sex appeal", try your local night club. Something I manifestly DON'T want is change for the sake of change. I can think several changes I would make to FrameMaker, but not much has anything to do with the look of the UI. At 48 with four young children I often look tired when I go in to work, but none of the young and sexy looking students I teach can come close to what I can do in the class or the lab, so it's not all about how you look.

* Drag and Drop.
If I have a paragraph on page 3 and want to move it to page 4, I can't simply highlight the paragraph and drag it to the new spot. I have to cut and paste the document. When you have to do this a lot, it becomes tiresome. Drag and drop has been available in most major applications for a long time.

I've never been a fan of this. Never missed it in FrameMaker. Would far rather have access to cross-reference marker text, more flexible system variables, or something else useful.

* Find/Find Next.
This is another small annoyance that I hate. Why can't Adobe correct what has become standard everywhere else. Cmd-F Find. Cmd-G Find Next?

What platform are you on anyway? This is exactly the way FrameMaker works on the Mac. I'm running it right now in Classic on 10.3.9 and find works just exactly as you describe. Always has.
