Re: Character set conversion

Sorry for leaving out important details.

FM 7.0p577 in Classic mode on Mac OS X 10.2.8
Acrobat Professional 6.0.1 (but I suspect the version 5.0 bundled with FM is being used)
AdobePS 8.8.0
Adobe PPD files from the 4/2/2002

I tried setting to generate PostScript 3 only and bundling any fonts which aren't in the PPD file, but it didn't fix the problem. Also, at the suggestion of a colleague, I checked which font I'm using. It's Times New Roman, which I think is built-in to PostScript, so that doesn't seem to be the problem either.

Subject: Character set conversion

Hi there,

When I generate either PS or PDF files, certain characters are
substituted (e.g. Yen for bullet) and others are dropped (e.g. '). I
tracked this down to FrameMaker's use of a proprietary character set -
the FrameMaker code for bullet is the same as the ISO8859-1 code for
Yen. I searched Adobe's support site as well as the email list
archives, and followed a suggestion to install the latest AdobePS
drivers and PPD files. However, this still didn't fix the problem.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.
