Re: OT: Windows 2000 Patch problem

Ann,

For better or worse, the problem you are encountering (and I DO believe
you are encountering it) probably has nothing directly to do with Acrobat
or FrameMaker, but rather, some interaction between an updated Microsoft
module and some other system module on your system, possibly either a
driver or a system module that either Microsoft or some other vendor placed
on your system. It is possible that such a driver or module is out-of-date
or otherwise incompatible with Windows 2000 and the latest Microsoft update
triggers the symptoms.

I have seen similar problems with Windows 2000 Service Pack 3 on one of my
systems, but not others. Fortunately, I was able to uninstall SP3 in safe
mode and go "back" to the configuration prior to installation of SP3. I
currently have a call in to Microsoft for that particular situation.

First thing I would check is video drivers. If there is an update to yours,
download and install (possibly in "safe mode" if necessary) and see if that
eliminates the symptoms you describe.
