RE: Word Text Copying as an Object

The way FrameMaker handles content copied in from other
applications via the Windows clipboard is determined by a setting
in the maker.ini file called ClipboardFormatsPriorities. The default
setting for this item is:
FILE, OLE 2, EMF, META, DIB, BMP, MIF, RTF, TEXT
If you have copied a complete Word file, when you do a regular
Paste operation FrameMaker will handle it as a referenced file.
If it's less than a full file, FrameMaker will make it an embedded
linked object in its own frame.

How do you get around this? One of two ways.

1) Use the Edit>Paste Special command rather than Ctrl+V (or
any other way of requesting a regular Paste operation). This
brings up a dialog that lets you explicitly choose how to handle
the content currently on the clipboard.

2) Edit maker.ini so that the standard Paste command uses a
different priority order. On my system, the priorities read:
FILE, TEXT, OLE 2, EMF, META, DIB, BMP, MIF, RTF
so that content copied in Word will be imported as plain text
unless I use the Paste Special command to choose something
else.

Subject: Word Text Copying as an Object

I'm having a bit of a problem with copying Word text and having it paste
into FM as an object. That is, it copies into FM in it's own frame instead
of just body text.

Any assitance would be greatly appreciated.
