Over-sensitive, cultural-cringing, whining Canadians and other spectators 8) I have received a number of messages similar to the following from Canadians anxious about the barbarians at their gates (hey, just keep checking those envelopes for talcum powder!). >> "We also use conditions to handle spelling and idiom variations, for >> example, "color" in USA and Canada versus "colour" in Australia and UK" > > Please, do us Canadians a favour (not a favor!) and spell our version > *properly*, too! (I know, you probably send one version to North > America, and we end up lumped in with the Americans, as usual. But if > you DO create a separate Canadian version, remember we like our "u"s!) I'm not actually involved in the product line referred to but my colleague assures me that the word "color" is not actually used anywhere in the manuals but, if it were, it would be spelt "colour" in the Canadian release. So there. There cannot be a single North American release because Canada has a value-added tax (VAT, GST, whatever) and USA doesn't. Meanwhile, ain't FrameMaker grand because it can accommodate all these differences in a single fileset using the magic of conditions. (Whoo-hoo!)
