RE: Change by pasting - bug?

Hi,

Thanks for your answer. However, I think I need to clarify this:

When I use "change to text", it works as I expect. Markers next to selected
portions of text are preserved when the text is changed. If I use "change by
pasting" on the same text, the markers disappear. That is, the scope of
selection is different depending on the way I change the text. However, I
have done a new test since my first letter, and found that this only happens
when the marker is the first character on a line (new paragraph or after a
line-break). Of course, this behavior is not what I would expect.

Can anyone confirm this?

Best regards

Jenny

Hi Jenny,

If a marker is part of a word and the word becomes selected by whatever
means, the marker is also selected. Thus, change-by-pasting into a selected
word replaces the word (including the marker) with the pasted text or item.

This is not quite a bug, since markers are "characters" in the character
stream (flow). Note, for example, that markers can be resized with the
Character Designer. So the behavior is what you would expect, if not what
you would want. It sure does make you stop and pay attention when doing
recursive operations.

Hope this helps,

Tom Neuburger
