Re: W98: Setting up for Postscript to PDF

Some comments:

(1) Your "PStype = PostScript font type 1 compatible or not" in the
table has values of "1" and "2+". That doesn't make too much sense.
ALL Adobe drivers are compatible with Type 1 fonts. If you really
meant "PStype = PostScript language level compatibility" then all
your entries should be "2 and 3". None of the drivers mentioned
support PostScript languagelevel 1.

(2) In terms of TrueType support, I assume that you mean "support
for searchability in PDF" of Type 42 TrueType fonts. All the four
combinations you provide support TrueType fonts in PDF as Type 42.
Only the combinations that include AdobePS 4.3 and Acrobat 4
support searchability of text in TrueType fonts.

(3) If you are making a switch from Mac to Windows'98, I would
most strongly recommend the combination of FrameMaker 5.5.6,
AdobePS 4.3, and Acrobat 4. If you must stay with Acrobat 3.02
for the time being, you should use AdobePS 4.2.6 (or 4.2.4 or 4.2.5).
