Re: Paragraph formats (using two char styles in)

Dimi:

I did not see the start of this thread so what follows may be way off
target.

Why not set up an user variable with one char style applied to your symbol
and another applied to the word "Warning"?

First, set up your symbol char tag, say WingDingCharTag, with the font,
colour, size, and other desired attributes and repeat for the warning char
tag, say WarningCharTag, not forgetting the red text colour!

Second, choose Special > Variable > [Create Variable] and enter the
definition, for example,

     <WingDingCharTag>L<Default Para Font>\t<WarningCharTag>Warning<Default
Para Font>

If you insert tabs (\t), thin quads (\st), en quads (\sn), or em quads
(\sm), and forced carriage returns (\n or \r), etc. in the user variable,
they are interpreted correctly by any tabbing and indent attributes of the
host paragraph tag.

Last, insert the variable at the beginning or wherever of each warning
note. That would save one more step to remember in your prepress workflow.

As other(s) have posted, I do not believe that you can directly do what you
want to do.

However, if you have one or more large documents which you can process in a
"batch mode", you could use FrameScript to locate a unique text string in
your
document and a) apply a character format to it OR b) apply the character
format and at the same time delete the stuff that made it a unique string
[if
you can't otherwise locate it as a unique string].
