*** Changing the strings by itself won't solve the problem.
*** You must delete the old printer icon, run setup again, and
*** create a new printer using the modified PPD. The driver
*** does not dynamically check the PPD file. Only "setup" accesses
*** the PPD file itself.

*** "Redistill" won't do anything for you. I won't tell you to try it!

*** You said you "tested" the PS files by distilling them.
*** Which PS files? Those created for the Distiller are very
*** different than those created for a Docutech. The driver sees
*** the Distillar as an Adobe PostScript Level 2 version 2017
*** printer.

*** And if you do produce an acceptable PDF file, you should be
*** able to print to the Docutech without a problem because the
*** driver is not involved in the line layout process.

*** By the way, any particular font that is a problem or all fonts?

>(3) PDFs produce the usual unacceptable "fuzzy" screen captures.

*** Acrobat 3 does have a display problem with images that was fixed
*** with Acrobat 4. However, printing should not be a problem with
*** Acrobat 3 if your original screen capture was (1) of sufficient
*** resolution, (2) was not downsampled in distillation, and
*** (3) not compressed with a lossy algoritm. (1) is controllable via
*** your screen capture methodology and FrameMaker, (2) and (3) depend
*** upon your Distiller settings.

>(4) The printer reports this same problem occurs with another
>customer's work, and that customer is another FrameMaker user.

*** If you still are having a problem with the generated PostScript
*** file, please email a copy of it to me along with the original
*** FM file.
