Graphics tools for Frame (was: It stinks...)

Frame is unique as it supports a very wide variety of formats through
filters. That makes work a lot easier for a lot of people.

By the way, whenever I've had a cross-platform image file problem, I've
been able to use HiJaak Pro on a dept. pc to convert the image to a format I
can use. And this only cost something like $69.>>

Visio's handling of multiple pages may makes it difficult to import NATIVE
Visio files. However, I know of no multi-platform publishing applications
that import native-format files of ANY technical illustration package; not
CorelDraw, not Freehand, not Illustrator, not Canvas, not ClarisDraw, not
IsoDraw, not AutoCAD. I once had to export 122 pages of flow chart from
Visio into EPS files one page at a time, in order to import the whole into a
FrameMaker book. But it was perfectly feasible to do it, if a touch tedious.
It's no great trick to export any graphic file using its Save As function,
just one that's sometimes overlooked when training people to use
Microsoft-only software on a single platform.

In a quick check of Visio 5.0 Technical, I see it offers me options to save
files in many formats: PostScript, EPS, Adobe Illustrator, HTML, several
versions of Visio, and so on. Last I looked, Frame imported EPS files
nicely!

And affordable graphic-conversion packages are around for multiple
platforms, some with capabilities specifically designed for cross-platform
issues, though I'm not current on availability and pricing: DeBabelizer,
Graphic Converter, HiJaak, CADmover...
