Why not use Adobe's own product (Illustrator) for illustrations which works best in FrameMaker and in all other desktop publishing programs? I am a technical illustrator and I do all my client's illustrations (mechanical, perspective and exploded views, electrical/electronic diagrams, design and utility drawings, shaded or lineart drawings, charts and graphs) in Illustrator and no matter what desktop publishing programs they use, (FrameMaker, QuarXpress, PageMaker or even Word) they are able to import the eps files in their documents and have a professional looking artwork in their manuals and marketing collaterals, without any hassle. I have used a variety of CAD programs and other illustration programs in the past 20 years, and I have not come across any other program that can compete with Illustrator as far as quality, ease of use, importability, flexibility and price. It is cross platform, so it works well both on Macs and PCs. I use Illustrator on my Mac, yet all my clients are PC users.
