Framers, Every few weeks it seems that there's a discussion about FrameMaker's future, problems, missing features, etc. Like most software, FrameMaker has areas that could be improved. It's certainly not alone. Very few MS Word users would describe it as the "utopia" of word processors! So, how can we improve this situation? Here are some thoughts... Complaining on the various FrameMaker forms doesn't seem to accomplish much. We should keep this to a minimum. Instead, we should concentrate on what things we can do to make FrameMaker better. Weh should also spread the "Frame" gospel whenever we get the chance. We should also encourage third-parties to provide FrameMaker enhancements. Adobe has provided good tools that allow us to help ourselves. After getting started with FrameMaker, I found it was missing some features I needed, so I used the FDK to make them. For the good of the Frame community, I decided to make my add-ons available as shareware. Why shareware? Software development takes time, effort and resources. I feel there has to be some payback as incentive to spur further development. How can you help this? Try third-party add-ons. Provide useful and constructive feedback to develpers. Most of all, pay for the tools that make your work easier! That provides incentives to developers to create more and better tools, which will benefit all of us! To those who already support FrameMaker developers, a big Thank You! You're doing what we all should to make FrameMaker a better product!
