If you can actually see any of the text in the box, Ctrl-clicking on that text *should* give you the text frame handles. Otherwise, you could try selecting the anchored frame, then Ctrl-A to Select All in Frame, and Ctrl-click the ones you *don't* want until you are left with the one you do. Or you could select the anchored frame, and Esc o f to select the item in the back (first in the draw order). Step through the objects with Esc o n. The last two won't work if the frame isn't *in* the anchored frame, if for example it's larger than the anchored frame. In that case, you could try Ctrl-drag with the *right* mouse button.
