RE: fmbatch post script print problem

In agreement with Thomas Michenek's post about this over on free-framers, I am baffled as to why you want to do this. If the idea is to use the .ps to make a PDF, then why not just use the PDF? Two questions:

Q: What is the .ps file for?

Q: What happens if you print the PDF to a .ps file?

As you have already found, the Print dialog on UNIX is "smart"...
If you turn on Acrobat Data, FM assumes you want to create a PDF file.
You can print to a PS file with Acrobat Data directly from the Print
dialog, but you cannot save those print settings.

But why do you need to create PS files with Acrobat Data, instead of PDF
files directly? I assume such PS files would be used to create PDF files
anyway, so why not create them directly? There is no reason creating a
PS file for printing purposes containing Acrobat Data.

I don't consider this behavior a bug. The Print dialog in UNIX is for
most purposes a lot more logical than the Windows counterpart.

Setting "Generate Acrobat Data" disables the printing of a PS file. If you
find out otherwise, please let me know because this has been a thorn in our
side for several years.

If you need an Acrobat-enhanced PS file, we have found that the only way to
do this is to print a PDF file and grab the temporary PS file (via a second
shell script) before Frame deletes it.
