The problem only seems to be once you uninstall it! But you should not have ATM running if you are running W2K as W2K incorporates the functionality of ATM (or something like that). Apparently ATM 4.1 does not conflict with W2K but 4.0 does.... I tell all our writers to uninstall it and run the fix just to be sure. However "if it aint broke...." Just keep the link in case you run into problems later on. Or only in those cases where people have trouble with it? It seems to be working fine on my system. Make sure you have uninstalled ATM and then run the tool from the location below and all will be fine again. http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=1552 Sue ------------------------------ Sue Mitchell Writing Support Specialist Cognos, Inc. 613.738.1338 x5461 -----Original Message----- From: Thomas Michanek [mailto:thomas.michanek@telia.com] Sent: Tuesday, January 07, 2003 11:21 AM To: Tammy VanBoening Cc: Free Framers Subject: Re: Problems with FM 6.0 installation [The original message appeared on the FrameUsers mailing list. Thoughts, help, any thing is > appreciated. No, you don't need ATM on Windows 2000 unless you use Multiple Master fonts or you need the font managing capabilities of ATM (like grouping fonts into sets and activating them). The PSFONTS folder is used by ATM, but not by the built-in font management in Windows 2000 (AFAIK). In that OS, you should install fonts ONLY by using the Fonts control panel. By trying to manually add font files in the supposedly correct folders, you will mess up the font installations. Keep the font files in PSFONTS if you wish, but deactivate/uninstall ATM and reinstall the fonts by using the Fonts control panel. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Thomas Michanek, FrameMaker/UNIX/MIF expert Technical Writer, Uppsala, Sweden mailto:Thomas.Michanek@telia.com http://go.to/framers/ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - ** To unsubscribe, send a message to majordomo@omsys.com ** ** with "unsubscribe framers" (no quotes) in the body. ** This message may contain privileged and/or confidential information.
