Subject: FM 6 and type 2 error on printing -- urgent!

Free-Framers, Apologies for duplicates of this plea. Aaaarrgh! Please help! My machine crashed on Friday while attempting to print a postscript file from a book file, and I haven't been able to print from Frame since. I can generate PS files and print to various printers from other apps on this machine, but Frame always crashes and disappears with a type 2 error message -- irrespective of the file I try to print from, so it is not a file corruption problem (even crashed on a new, mostly blank file not using our templates). Frame crashes whether I use Adobe's print driver (v8.8.0(301)) or Apple's LaserWriter driver (v8.7.1). Frame crashes whether I try to use the Acrobat Distiller PPD or the Generic PPD. Frame crashes whether I try to print in the foreground or background. Here is what I have tried so far: Deleted FrameMaker prefs file Reinstalled Frame 6.0 (and updated to 6.0p395) (even did this on a different volume) bumped minimum ram for Frame up to 76144K bumped preferred ram for Frame up to 84336K Deleted FrameMaker prefs file again Reinstalled Acrobat 5.0 (updated to 5.05) Fresh (aka clean) install of operating system 9.2.2 then reinstalled all of the apps above again installed fresh versions of the PPD files (and deleted the parsed ones) Fresh install of my fonts Fresh install of Adobe PS 8 print driver bumped minimum ram for PrintMonitor up to 500K bumped preferred ram for PrintMonitor up to 500K What have I left out here in my voodoo rituals? Please respond directly, as I am on digest and up against some looming deadlines... -- Greg Hanek ghanek@indiana.edu .disclaimer .pithy_quote ** To unsubscribe, send a message to majordomo@omsys.com ** ** with "unsubscribe framers" (no quotes) in the body. **
