Geez, you both seem to be missing the point Eric is making. He doesn't open the files in the book, he just opens the book file. In versions 6 and 7, just opening the book file by itself starts a default process of opening, scanning and closing all the files in the book in the background, probably to be able to display page ranges in the book file window. Yes, this a valuable feature, but apparently those requesting it and/or implementing it has never worked with books containing more than a few files. It should of course be possible to turn off, just like the automatic update of references when opening an ordinary FM document. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Thomas Michanek, FrameMaker/UNIX/MIF expert Technical Writer, Uppsala, Sweden mailto:Thomas.Michanek@telia.com http://go.to/framers/ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - ** To unsubscribe, send a message to majordomo@omsys.com ** ** with "unsubscribe framers" (no quotes) in the body. **
