Geez, louise, folks. Think about this. Opening 200 binary files one after another is going to take time no matter what program you're using. I know that opening even a 10-file book using 5.5.6 on a UNIX platform took a few minutes, too, and I expected it to take longer the more files I opened. I also expected it to take MUCH longer on a wintel platform, simply because Windows (still, as far as I can tell) cannot handle RAM all that well. And RAM is where all those files are being opened, so there's another performance hit. I'm not saying you have to be happy about it, but be reasonable in your expectations. Just remember--you could be using Word to open those 200 (or 2,070 (ye gods!!)) files. Lin Sims Of course I'm willing to take 'No' for an answer, so long as 'No' was the answer I was looking for. ** To unsubscribe, send a message to majordomo@omsys.com ** ** with "unsubscribe framers" (no quotes) in the body. **
