(Reposted for greater clarity, both on Free Framers and Frame2Acrobat.) FrameMaker 5.5.6, Acrobat Distiller 5.0.5, WinNT (256 MB RAM) for creating PostScript file (by print to Acrobat Distiller printer), Win2K (1GB RAM) for Distiller. TimeSavers 3.2, Unbloat enabled. 25 MB PS file, 3.2 MB PDF file with 1280 destinations after Unbloat. I almost always get the following message from Distiller: %%%%[ Error generating pdf file. Please retry with these features turned off: optimize ]%%%% which does not prevent an apparently perfect PDF file being created, except it is not optimized for Fast Web View (byte-serving) straight after distilling. Ari's Link Checker tells me there are no bad actions, links or bookmarks. I then always have to make some minor tweaks and adjustments to the PDF file, so I have to optimize with Save As... Has anyone seen similar behaviour? Does the error matter given my workflow?
