Frame 7: keyboard navigation

Frame 7, Win2K/SP2 -- Award Bios 2000 -- Asus MB -- IBM/Fujitsu

In Frame 6, an open file couldn't be accessed from the book file via
pressing, return. Things are worse in Frame 7, on my machine at least.
Keyboard input does not  work, i.e., pressing arrow-up, arrow-down,
enter/return has no effect. I am limited to mouse navigation. Not so
good for an old keyboarder like myself.  My BIOS is reasonably current,
and I tried IBM, Fujitsu and no name keyboards:  no luck.
Has anybody else experienced this?
