Around the mulberry bush: FM and Information Mapping

Hi again

Our new mother company has a standard IMAP layout for manuals which we have
to adhere to. They use MS Word and a lot of macros and predefined text
insets I guess. We are free to use Word or FrameMaker but it doesn't look
like FrameMaker is the best tool to handle the Information Mapping layout.

To keep FrameMaker I need to implement a template which makes it relatively
easy to work with Maps.

If a map (section) continues on the next page the map title should be
repeated on that page with a ", continued" after the map title.

Question:
One of the tips I got was to put each map in an invisible table where the
map title is the table header. I will put the Table Continuation variable in
the header as well.

Has anyone done this before?
Can FM handle it? A chapter may contain up to 200 pages
Is it possible to get a table automatically divided in a row or will we get
problems with a lot of white space as large table rows are sent to the next
page?

To be frank If I cannot get a page break in a table row I don't think the
above idea seems operational.

We have also been thinking of using the header and the running header footer
variable but cannot figure out how as there are no headers in the layout
that we are attempting to copy.
We have been thinking about using the new feature of asigning a specific
master page to map continuation paragraph tag but we have different left -
right pages so this doesn't seem to work either.
Another option will be to buy FrameScript
With FM7 I may get an EDD to some of the work. Setting up an EDD is not an
easy job though.

If you have been working with FrameMaker and Information Mapping and
inserted Map Continuation headings and Map End lines by hand please tell me
how it worked for you.

Any ideas on how to implement a standard IMAP layout in FrameMaker are
welcome.

I know that Information Mapping developed an IMAP planner for Word. Is there
an IMAP planner for FrameMaker?
