Gary, If you properly installed Acrobat 5, there should already be a "printer" labelled "Acrobat Distiller". If not, your installation of Acrobat 5 is incomplete. Fully uninstall Acrobat 5 and REBOOT your system. With the Adobe Universal PostScript Driver Installer 1.0.6 (posted yesterday on Adobe.com), create a dummy "to FILE: port" PostScript driver instance with the generic PPD. Then fully reinstall Acrobat 5 followed by the 5.0.5 upgrade. You should then see a "Acrobat Distiller" printer instance. Finally, delete that generic PostScript printer instance, poor a tall, stiff drink, and enjoy the weekend (but don't drive after that drink). - Dov At 5/24/2002 02:37 PM, Gary Zimmerman wrote: >Dov, thanks for the response! > >>What "printer" are you "printing" to for creation of a PostScript >>file for distillation? I have FM+SGML and Acrobat 5 and, apparently, Distiller installed on the XP machine. In my FM directory, under the ppds subdirectory, there are a number of adist4*.ppd files: > > adist4.ppd > adist4cs.ppd > adist4ct.ppd > adist4j.ppd > adist4k.ppd > >I'm not sure what the differences are. > >I'm also not sure how to install them as recognized printers. But when I try to use the Add Print wizard to add another printer, Adobe, Distiller, nor FrameMaker appears in the list of available printer manufacturers. >When I tried to manually install the new printer, the wizard insists I find it an .inf file, not a ppd file. > >How do I use the right ppd and get it installed properly as a printer driver?
