Thomas. The main problem may be that Frame uses two inner encodings - one for any "Roman" fonts, and the second (linear in any platforms) - for ANY fonts that have "Symbol" bit set in the header. I suggest your IPA fonts may use the second. The third encoding method (say, let's call it CID encoding) is for any db CJK fonts/text - probably it is not your case. The second "Symbol" encoding should get you a very different result in the Clipboard copy/paste operations, keyboard input and so on. You may need either to do the own custom system keyboard mapping (keyboard editor like ParaWin 2000 or XP (www.paratype.com) requred) or change the 'Symbol' bit set in the font header to ANSI/Western (font tools like FontLab (www.fontlab.com) requred). As Thomas M. wrote, the FM OnLine Charset manual is a good source for to start knowing more about both Frame inner encoding. I have experienced some differences between character codes I > have used previously and the same codes in Frame. FrameMaker has its own 8-bit character set, where a number of character positions are reserved (or locked) for internal use. If a font uses these positions, those characters will be lost or replaced. At this moment, I don't have a complete and accurate list, but you can get some information by looking in the online manual "FrameMaker Character Sets" (available in the Help menu in FM 5.5.6, buried in the installation in FM6, and seriously flawed in FM6 unless you have downloaded a new version from Adobe's website; see http://go.to/framers). The "ANSI no." not listed there may be reserved and unusable, even though not everyone of them actually are (as reported by others). I hope this helps to get you started. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Thomas Michanek, Technical Writer IAR Systems AB, Sweden: http://www.iar.com mailto:Thomas.Michanek@iar.se Tel: +46 18 167800, Fax: +46 18 167838 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - ** To unsubscribe, send a message to majordomo@omsys.com ** ** with "unsubscribe framers" (no quotes) in the body. ** ** To unsubscribe, send a message to majordomo@omsys.com ** ** with "unsubscribe framers" (no quotes) in the body. **
