Hi, everyone, I am a newbie to the list with a problem that you may have discussed already, so please forgive me if this is a repeat. An acquaintance suggested I get on this list to tell you about this problem and solution that it took me awhile to research. I was working in Frame 6 on some documentation that I had previously done extensive color work in on the same copy of Frame 6 months ago, when I began experiencing a problem with color replication. Suddenly 100s of colors would appear in my color palette, ones I thought I wasn't using. Because the little arrow drop-down doesn't work in the tool kit or even in the Color Definitions box, and also because all the colors started with 000 (so that they appeared after Frame's default colors but before the ones I defined myself), I was unable to choose the colors I actually wanted from the lists. I was also unable to delete them using the Color Definitions box, not that I would want to spend my time deleting hundreds of colors. I found two ways to get rid of them. At first I was having to copy the contents of my documents into a new document, after using formats from one that wasn't affected. Later someone on one of the Adobe user forums suggested I make a .mif (duh!). Adobe offered no help at all in its Knowledge Base. The .mif was faster, so I started doing that, but eventually these colors reappeared every time. Finally, today, I figured out that the difference between now and 6 months ago, besides the corporate colors I was using, was that I was using some .pngs that our UI designer gave me to illustrate icons. It turns out if you have any .pngs in your document (and they are becoming more popular, our UI person says), Frame puts all the colors (multiple copies of each one) into your color palette. Since some of the .pngs I was using were made of graduated colors, I had lots and lots of extra colors that I didn't want. I could remove the colors by making a .mif, and my color palette would look fine until I got to a page where the .pngs were, then it would start loading up the colors. I converted all my .pngs to .jpgs. No more problems. I think this is a major bug and hope someone will suggest a way to bring it to Adobe's attention.
