Hello, All, I'm stumped and it probably something simple which makes it all the more aggravating. I have two books. Both use the same structure and tags. But one auto numbers the chapters correctly and the other doesn't. The one that doesn't puts "1" for every chapter and won't go from Appendix A to Appendix B. And the crazy part is it used to work just fine until I renamed the chapters recently to shorten the titles (Venturi_Client_* to VC_*). I renamed the chapters in the other book the same way and it still works! The tag for the auto number is the same in both books - C:<n=1> for the first chapter and then C:<n+> for the rest. In the TOC it is just C:<n+>, relying on the reset to zero to get started. That works just fine. I've checked the numbering for the document as a whole and for each chapter, which are the same as the other book, but if I go to the C:<n=1> and C:<n+> it doesn't work correctly. Anyone know where the switch is hidden or stuck? TIA Allen Schaaf Sr. Tech Writer Fourelle Systems, Inc. Who says bad manuals aren't a risk to your life?
