Larry's right to suspect print drivers and their desktop printing instances.

If you search the Adobe PS Printer forum archives you will find a post of
mine regarding how to positively, absolutely get your Adobe print driver
8.7.3 (latest) and its various options, esp. one-press direct-to-Distiller
(background distilling) PDF printing configured and working (req's Acrobat
5). I'll email you some instructions under separate cover, this because they
reference an Adobe QA contact and an unpublished QA tool he shared w/me
which may be useful or necessary for you.

I'm posting this here for other Mac users' reference to the printer forum
thread.
