unhelpful tints

I need help with a little problem involving tints used in tables.  I
have defined a tint using the Color Definitions window by making a tint
of an existing Pantone color.  The problem comes when I try to use this
in a table.  When I put it in an object it is fine, but in a table the
color prints as a solid.

I know there is a built-in tint function for tables, but I would prefer
not to use that if possible.

Any suggestions welcome
