In March and November 1999 I posted some questions regarding these two products and summarized the responses to these lists. Over the years, the summary posts have been difficult or impossible to find in the list archives. On occasion, people have written me asking for these summaries. As I had promised sometime in the last year or so, these summaries have finally been organized in a slightly more useful format and posted on Shlomo Perets' web site at http://www.microtype.com/resources/articles/FMvsAdepic.pdf. Despite the years that have gone by, many people considering SGML software may still find value in the concepts shared here. Some respondents favor one product, others favor the other product, and still others mention additional SGML composition software. My own experience (having used Arbortext now for about a year) pretty much confirms most all the views expressed about Adept/Epic herein. Both products have their idiosyncrasies, costs, caveats, and admirable qualities. Better late than never, Jason The views expressed do not reflect the opinions of Medtronic, Inc. and all the usual disclaimers apply. ** To unsubscribe, send a message to majordomo@omsys.com ** ** with "unsubscribe framers" (no quotes) in the body. **
