It depends a little on what your objective is with the Windows font. On UNIX, you can tell in the console terminal window what font substitutions that are made in the file. You first have to decide if these font substitutions are what you want. If they are what you want, you simply have to check File > Preferences for the setting "Remember missing font names". Uncheck it to make the font substitutions permanent when you save the file. (But then you may encounter the same problem if you open the file in Windows.) If you want to substitute the fonts with a different font than the one that FrameMaker suggests, you have to edit the "fontlist" file. (This file contain font mappings that in Windows are stored in the maker.ini file.) You can either edit the fontlist file in your FM installation ($FMHOME/fminit/fontdir/fontlist), or edit a copy of that file in your home directory ($HOME/fminit/fontdir/fontlist), depending on what scope you want your edits to take. This file contains <MapFont> statements for each font mapping. Your FM installation *should* already contain the mapping <MapFont < TimesNewRoman > < Times > > but you can add/change this to some other font. The syntax and semantics of the fontlist file is quite important, so you should take care to edit it carefully. I can give you some advice if you need to take this approach. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Thomas Michanek, [Michagon], Linkoping, Sweden Documentation Consultant, FrameMaker/UNIX expert EMAIL: mailto:Thomas.Michanek@telia.com WWW: http://go.to/framers , or go directly to: http://w1.133.telia.com/~u13304072/framers - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Subscribe to Omni System's "Free Framers" list: send an email to majordomo@omsys.com with "subscribe framers" in the body ** To unsubscribe, send a message to majordomo@omsys.com ** ** with "unsubscribe framers" (no quotes) in the body. **
