AdobePS 8.5.1 Mac unable to load OEMClib

CROSS POSTED TO ACROBAT AND FRAMERS X 2

Macsters (and Dov and Lee):

Having just acquired my first PostScript printer I am now enjoying
getting it to work properly. I have downloaded its PPD and AdobePS
8.5.1, and installed both on my my Power Macintosh 7200/120, Mac OS 8.1.

But, when I choose the AdobePS driver in the Chooser, the Laser Select
360 is not displayed in the pane listing network devices, which remains
blank. Instead, I get an error message that says AdobePS is unable to
load OEMClib owing to insufficient memory.

Isn't 56 Mb RAM and 56 Mb virtual memory (courtesy Ram Doubler 8)
enough? I have used Get Info on both AdobePS and OEMClib but, being
extensions, you cannot see what memory they require or change it, as you
can with applications.

The printer works correctly with LaserWriter 8.5.1 so I know it is not
the printer, the network, or the system software generally. Why do you
want AdobePS, you ask? LW 8 can be a pain sometimes, especially setting
up virtual printers to print PostScript to a file, so I sometimes prefer
to use AdobePS. By the way, if I use PSprinter, the earlier incarnation
of AdobePS, I have no problems.

Can anyone enlighten me, please?
