You could try to increase the Chooser's memory, but I don't think
that's the problem. Bob Canastra's suggestion sounds plausible.

In addition, try all the standard MacFixes --

  - Rebuild the desktop.

  - Reboot and hold down the space bar to bring up the Extensions
    Manager. Temporarily disable everything but AdobePS and the
    absolute necessities. You may have an extension conflict.

  - Run Disk First Aid (and Norton Disk Doctor if you have it) on
    the drive.

I use AdobePS exclusively here; it's well worth the effort to get
it going especially if you're using Frame and Acrobat.
