Yes, Dan, but your method requires a lot of manual fiddling and
visual inspection, and will take a lot of time. Imagine doing this
for a book with 100 files, comparing with a template... I think
most of us want to do this automatically and without the risk of
human errors.

There are free utilities that can do this job on a book level.
Unless you won't need to do this more than once on a few, small
documents, I would definitely recommend the 3rd-party approach.
