Hi I solved the problem with the stripped FrameMaker7 license server installation. (Thanks to Peter Gold) I found a file (.scenarios) in the FMHOME/fminit folder. The file .scenarios was needed by FM to accept the FM7 license key. I'm not sure if it was created during installation or if it was created when I entered the license key in fmsetupfls before I stripped the installation. So if you want to do this. Make a full installation and enter the FM7 license key in FMHOME/bin/fmsetupfls. Use FMHOME/bin/fmcopy to place a copy of the installation on your license server. If you want to strip the installation save these files: (I'm not sure if the links in FMHOME/bin/sunxm.s5.sparc are needed but they don't take up that much space.) I'm trying to set up the FM7 (Unix Solaris) license process on a our license server. The FM installation is on another server. On the license server there is a stripped installation of FM6 that is sufficient to start the fm_fls process. It has been working for 4, 5.5 and 6, but when I try to enter the FM7 license number it can't read the FM7 format. (Makes sense) I need to upgrade the stripped installation to FM7. I copied the same files that I saw in the FM6 file tree from FM7 to my workstation (See below) and tried to start the process. It didn't work. I had to copy some lib files from the ./bin/sunxm.s5.sparc directory. Then it started OK. But when I tried to add the FM7 license number I got the same message as before. fmaddlicense-> add (my license number) Invalid license. License format should be For Versions >= 7.0 NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN (24 digits) For Versions <= 6.0 PP-L-VV-CC-R-SSSSS-CCCCCC for permanent licenses and PP-L-VV-CC-R-SSSSS-DDDDDD-CCCCCC for temporary licenses. *** license (my license number) is invalid. fmaddlicense-> The stripped version 7 behaves like version 6. I must have missed some files. Witch ones? Does anyone know?
