Re: Crop Marks AND Giant PDF File! RE: Giant PDF File - Why?

Dear "Baphphled",

You are suphphering phrom "crop mark bloat", an inphection that occurs
due to a little known phact that PhrameMaker's registration marks are
implemented as polygons oph little, itsy-bitsy, line segments instead oph
as circles. The higher the resolution, the more oph these line segments.
An otherwise totally blank page with registration marks produced phrom
PhrameMaker 6 with the Acrobat Distiller printer instance at 2400dpi
and the crop marks pheature "on" yielded a PD(PH) phile about 48k bytes
in length. Very little oph that is document overhead. Assume that phor
this resolution, you might expect approximately 45k bytes per page oph
overhead phor these marks, a megabyte phor every 20 pages or so. Ouch!

Alternatives are to use various plugins in Acrobat to add ephphicient
cropping and registration markings there not phrom within PhrameMaker.

You might say that this is all due to alien-made crop circles or perhaps
just a "croppy" implementation. (8^)>

        - Dov

PS: Don't get me started!
