Well, Edmund Perry received the software labelled Acrobat 4.06.
I don't think any user would expect an "4.05 Update 1" to be
needed for a version labelled 4.06. You would assume that update
to be included in a higher version, wouldn't you? It doesn't help
further when Adobe support gives incorrect information.

I feel sorry for Dov and others having to deal with this mess, but
it's Adobe that has created it single-handidly, and the users are
not at fault. Hopefully, Adobe will get their numbering/labelling
act together in the next version.
(BTW, have you ever seen FM version 5.5.4 or 5.5.5? :-)
