Big mistake. Dov Isaacs, the Adobe expert on producing PDFs
has warned over and over on the lists that the Save As PDF option
in FrameMaker is a big mistake, because it automatically selects
the current default printer for producing the PDF, and you get
no chance to select the printer in the Save As PDF dialog.
It is much better to use the Print dialog, click Setup to
select Distiller, print to a Postscript file, and then
distill the postscript. Using Save As PDF with default
printer other than Distiller is the cause of most of
the problem people have in producing PDF from
FrameMaker. If you do use it, you must, prior to using
it, always use File > Print Setup to select Distiller
as the printer. Even then, you may run into problems
that are avoidable if you print to a postscript file
with Distiller selected as the printer.
