Hi, All that nice West Palm Beach weather has made Michelle (mld) too conservative. :) If you have a good product, beat the drum! I was one of the lucky recipients of her COMPLETE communication (what was posted to this group was just a brief) and I found it extremely helpful. If anybody is interested in this subject, be sure to see the referenced articles and/or ask Michelle (mld@us.ibm.com) for the full version. Unfortunately, Michelle either could not or did not comment on Via Voice for use with FM in particular. However, I can see the possibility for tremendous productivity improvements in some of the work that we do in FM ... particularly if this approach works well (or can be tuned for) in-table navigation. There are many times that I am editing table content and have to use all three hands to keep track of my source references. I have a couple FM-related questions which I will post here (and, mld, a couple non-FM [use on a PC, but which is running windows of unix boxes through the PC's XServer] which I will send privately): 1) Can Via Voice, or this class of tool in general, be set up to execute "hot key" functions. As an example, would the following be possible? (Win95, FM 556) a) Can the user make/train/assign phrases that the voice product will associate a particular CONTROL activity that the application program will understand? b) I would, in each case, use FrameScript to set up a script that is executable either through the FM/FS menu, or through a hot key assignment. Are there any problems executing such with a Voice product? c) Example (maybe bad choice of words, but good for illustration): Navigation in a table from row to row, column to column, selecting and replacing content. ComputerTableDown ComputerTableDown ComputerTableRight ComputerTableRight ComputerSelectSentence ComputerReplaceWith "new text" ComputerTableDown.... This is a good example, because in a TABLE, FM does not understand the concept of moving the cursor down to get to the table row below (unlike most word processors).
