Forcing Frame to code and decode the MIF sometimes fixes corrupted book files. If that doesn't do it, my best suggestion is a series of experiments using Distiller as your PostScript analyzer: >From the book file, print to *.ps the last file that prints (first chapter, you said). Convert it using Distiller. If OK, great. If not, examine the Distiller log for hints. Repeat for the next file in the book. Continue through the book or try the whole book again, depending on your degree of patience and the similarity of graphics and content among chapters. Sometimes one specific graphic or imported file can cause a problem like this, and may need to be re-imported or re-imported in a different graphic format. (For PDF, EPS is often a good bet, since Acrobat uses essentially a compressed format. But not all EPS is created equal.) Somewhere in this process, you should at least be able to identify your "problem file". You can also try the MIF and back approach to clean up a chapter, but the book file is a more likely suspect.
