As a followup to the post Mark Barratt made the other day (re. colour printing from Frame), I sent the following clip to the electronic prepress guru at our print shop. He knows his stuff inside out. Mark grew up in a print shop and has printers ink (6 colour) in his veins. He has an incredible depth of understanding of the computers and peripherals that they use. They do a lot of work with Frame input on both Docutechs and offset presses. He knows his business. His laconic reply is at the bottom of the message. - web >The following showed up on the Framers list today. Any comment? > >- web > >--------------------------------------------- > >I am having big problems with a loved-by-client printer who cannot run my >(Mac) Frame-generated PostScript files on his Barco RIP, which assembles & >imposes on screen, then images to plate. He tells the client: > >'Frame cannot produce working PostScript for high-quality 4-colour sets >which I can separate to CMYK and impose on my system. It can't be done - >they need to do it in Quark Xpress.' The above statement is untrue, unless of course there is a problem with Barco's software itself. ** To unsubscribe, send a message to majordomo@omsys.com ** ** with "unsubscribe framers" (no quotes) in the body. **
