Resetting in middle of keyboard shortcut

Sometimes I start the platform-independent key sequence for a command
and realize before I'm done that I've hit the wrong key(s).

Is there a platform-independent key sequence to reset (so FrameMaker
forgets what I've just typed in)? This also would
let me abort if I change my mind about executing the command so I can
just start typing in my document.
