FM+SGML: hidden text?

I need to read from and write back to an SGML file but there are some
elements in the SGML which I don't want to appear in the Frame doc.

As I understand it, Frame discards hidden text on export to SGML. This
would be bad news.

Any ideas? I'm on FM+SGML 5.5 on Windows95
