Subject: Upgrading to 5.5.6 from 5.5.2

Prior to FM 5.5.2 (Win 95a), I have always had standard toolbar. With 5.5.2, I have added a few customizations. I have recently ordered the 5.5.6 'upgrade', so before it gets here, next week: Since Adobe does not issue a true upgrade, i.e. their upgrade consists of a reinstallation, and NOT a true upgrade of current version: How would you suggest the best way to regain my current toolbar customization? 1. I could save the old maker.ini, fmtoolbar, etc. files and then use them to rewrite the new ones, but then I would destroy any new enhancements from the 'upgraded' version. 2. The only way I see, and it is not very elegant, is to save the old (552) configuration files. Then, after 'upgrading' open both versions of each configuration file, and use a line by line comparison and cut'n'paste method. Anyone have a better solution? ~john P.S.> In the same vain, retaining the customizations in the custom & txtmplt files is much easier. BUT it would be even easier if Adobe provided a true upgrade. Even Netscape, which used to upgrade the same way, you had to uninstall the previous version, before upgrading - has finally gone to a true upgrade route. BUT with the option of retaining your older version if you want to keep both. Which is the case for using the output RTF Filter in FM 5.1.2. John D. Pilla, Optum Inc.
