I'm with Peter on this one, sounds like a classic issue of permissions that is purely related to the network and not anything Acrobat/FrameMaker related. I think it might be interesting to see what would happen if one of these PDFs were opened on a UNIX or Mac system. Do they open, or are they truly corrupted. Can your network administrator change the permissions of the file in Windows? If these files are not secret and you have one, I can try opening them on both a Solaris box and Mac OS X. Contact me off list to try this. However, I would think your network admin should be able to fix the permission problem from his end.
