RE: FM7 crashes intermittently

Sara,

We were having this problem, and the Adobe help desk said that it was
most likely cause by one of two things:

- Anti-virus software, in which case you can set up an exclusion for
FrameMaker in the anti-virus software to try to stop the crashes. This
wasn't our problem. We set up the exclusion and still crashed.

-Running FrameMaker over a network--this was our problem. Once we
started running our files on our local hard drives, the crashes
virtually stopped. 

We still get crashes once in a great while, but they seem to be due to a
known issue with searching an entire book.

Hello Framers,
FM7.1 was recently installed on my Windows XP Professional version 2002
computer.
Everything seems to work OK, except that FM crashes from time to time,
for no apparent reason.
The error message usually contains the phrase "could not be read to
memory."

I suspect that the installation was not performed properly, since my
colleagues are experiencing similar problems and FM was installed for
all of us remotely by the IT department.

Since my group is relatively new to FM, I'd appreciate any advice on
proper installation procedures and compatibility issues that could be
causing this problem.
I'm very much looking for a solution!
