Re: Color in printed output

When I print a book to Distiller in order to generate a PDF and then print the PDF to the same postscript color laser, the colors are no longer correct. They look ok on the screen when viewing the PDF, same as in FrameMaker, but they are not correct in the printed output.

Yes, under Windows all colors are converted into RGB colors because FrameMaker uses the Windows GDI printing engine. This is quite ridiculous for a layout software but that's the way it is.

See knowledge base document #324220 (http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/23596.htm)

What can you do?

There is a Plug-In for Acrobat called "Quite a box of tricks" from Quite Software Inc. (http://www.quite.com/box) that converts the colours back to CMYK. This is the only solution I know.

If you are working on MacOS and this happens, see knowledge base document #324219 (http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/2419a.htm).
