You have been advised to download the latest mouse driver from either Logitech or Microsoft. You should be aware, though, that there are a number of reports that the latest Logitech driver (version 9.75) does NOT resolve the problem in all cases. Apparently, version 9.73 or earlier works better, possibly due to an additional option that has been deleted in version 9.75. Here are a few of the reports: --------------------------------------------- Date: Tue, 14 Jan 2003 08:28:55 -0500 From: Mike Wickham <mewickham@compuserve.com> Subject: Mouse Scroll Wheel Problem >From time to time users complain of non-functioning scroll wheels on their mouses, and the usual advice is to get the latest mouse driver. I found out that this advice isn't always right. I made the mistake of installing a new driver version and lost my scroll wheel functionality. I discovered that scrolling works fine with the Logitech 9.42 driver, but not with version 9.75. I notice that the "Use MS Office Compatible Scroll Only" box is no longer an option in the new driver. Anyone having problems using Logitech drivers should check to see that this box is available (on the Buttons tab in mouse properties). If so, uncheck it. If the box is missing altogether, you may need a different driver version. --------------------------------------------- Michael Hare - 02:25pm Feb 11, 2003 Pacific I backed off from Logitech mouse drivers 9.75 to 9.73 and now I can scroll in FM7. --------------------------------------------- John E Cook - 09:24am Jan 14, 2003 Pacific I didn't have any luck with the 9.42 drivers but thought that I remembered seeing a MS Office Compatibility checkbox in 9.73, so grabbed those and installed them. The MS Office checkbox was unchecked. I fired up Frame and couldn't scroll. I checked the boxes (including Scroll in Active Window Only) and clicked Apply. Still couldn't scroll in Frame. I unchecked the MS Office checkbox and clicked Apply. Viola! The scrollwheel now works in Frame 6! The cruise up and down doesn't work, but the scrollwheel does. I'm happy. I'm not touching anything else! ;) --------------------------------------------- Susan Peck - 08:44am Dec 20, 2002 Pacific We came to the same conclusion (thanks for all who suggested it) and I downloaded Logitech Mouseware 9.73 yesterday and installed it. So far the crashing stopped and the wheel works. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Thomas Michanek, FrameMaker/UNIX/MIF expert Technical Communicator, Uppsala, Sweden mailto:Thomas.Michanek@telia.com (Sweden) http://go.to/framers/ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Join the low-volume "Free Framers" mailing list: send an email to majordomo@omsys.com with "subscribe framers" in the body ** To unsubscribe, send a message to majordomo@omsys.com ** ** with "unsubscribe framers" (no quotes) in the body. **
