Ingvar, Under Windows 2000, you are getting EXACTLY what you asked for if you use a PostScript printer driver instance created for a Hewlett-Packard LaserJet 5siMX printer to generate PostScript for distillation into PDF. The LaserJet 5siMX is a monochrome printer. Thus, the PPD file for that printer which is used to create the PostScript printer driver instance for the LaserJet 5siMX provides information to the driver that causes the driver to generate grayscale PostScript in most (but not all) cases. For monochrome printers, grayscale PostScript is much more compact and efficient than full-color PostScript, especially in the case of images. You must understand that PostScript is device-DEPENDENT, especially when generated by either Windows or MacOS PostScript drivers. PostScript for distillation should only be created using a printer driver instance created with the Acrobat Distiller PPD. Correct installation of Acrobat 5.0x under Windows yields a printer driver instance labelled "Acrobat Distiller". Used normally, it not only creates the correct PostScript for distillation, but also "feeds" that PostScript directly to the Distiller such that you don't need to manually invoke Distiller to create PDF from the resultant PostScript. With FrameMaker 6, the only time where you really need to manually create PostScript and then distill would be if you are creating a PDF file from a FrameMaker "book." And even this problem is resolved with FrameMaker 7 with "save as PDF." - Dov At 7/29/2002 05:14 AM, ingvar.albertsen@alfalaval.com wrote: >PDF files generated on Windows NT4, from FrameMaker 6.0, Acrobat 5.0, and >printerdriver HP5Si LaserJet display colours on the screen and PDF files >generated on Windows 2000, FrameMaker 6.0, Acrobat 5.0, Printerdriver HP5Si >LaserJet only black white and grey, covering all colours by grey shades. > >Could you help me to have the colours displayed?
