Actually, I was in error -- I needn't have specified http:

Message URL \\brixcorp\\Marketing\\Release-Planning works fine, (double)
backslashes and all. (The first backslash is used to identify the second as
a literal.

This is because backslashes are used to "escape" certain character
codes in FM. Many non-ASCII characters have some backslash code
that you can use in dialogs (they are listed in the User Guide).

That is how URLs are defined: with forward slashes. The fact that
you may in some cases use backslashes in a URL is simply a way
for some software to "simplify" things for Windows users.

So, simply use forward slashes in your URL specifications
within FM. You'll be better off in the long run following the
standard.
